A huge thank you to all the children, staff and parents who made last night’s art auction such a successful event. As mentioned last night Annette Ainsworth did an amazing job of bringing the event together and special mention to Chiqui, Craig (and the IT team of Gaylord and James), Ildi and Victoria from the PTA and all the other parents and staff who helped.
As previously mentioned the amount of art pieces donated was very humbling and we are extremely grateful to all the artists within our community who donated beautiful pieces of art to help make our art auction a night to remember. We raised in excess of $175,000.
This week in my blog, which you can access by clicking HERE, I cover the following;
- Chinese Week – Speech Competition Video. Craig and the team have put together a video of all the speeches from our speech competition which was part of our Chinese Week Celebrations.
- Parent Consultations – information re timings for the upcoming Parent Consultations. Bookings, on Gateway, go live today at 3pm.
- Staffing for next year – announcement re new staff joining us and which staff are sadly leaving us.
Thank you for your continued support.
This year, we had a group of 8 students participate in the Gecko Maths competition at Island School. It was an immensely fantastic event!
We learnt a lot throughout the competition, for example, team building, working under pressure and completing tasks within a limited amount of time. During that hour, we experienced feelings such as excitement, nervousness, tension and tiredness. We were tremendously proud of each other when they announced we got second and fourth place!

ESF’s 50th Anniversary – A Celebration of Sport
It was a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the English School Foundation; it was also a celebration of sport. To begin the day all 11 ESF primary schools participated in a series of cross country races for athletes in Years 3 – 6. Running around the field and braving the jungle trail, runners put their training to the test. Runners pushed themselves throughout their race maintaining a pace as fast as possible. All of our runners completed the course with many in the top ten.
This event was followed by a round robin of netball and football games where the best athletes from each school represented their region in a “Kowloon” vs. “Island” mini tournament. Each region created three teams of equal ability and played all three teams from the other region. All the netball and football games were close with players from all teams demonstrating outstanding skills and sportsmanship. For players that had not played together teams bonded quickly and played well together. After all the games were played, the ‘Island’ teams won the netball and ‘Kowloon’ teams won the football.
Congratulations to all the competitors from Years 3 – 6 who participated in this event and a special thank you to all the parents who came and supported the school. Our participating athletes from Year 3 – 6 were:
