Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Firstly, I want to thank you all for your support, patience and understanding over the past two weeks.  They have been very challenging times for us all and to know we had your full support throughout was, personally, very much appreciated and valued.  Having the children return on Wednesday was such a positive for everyone involved.

Please appreciate we are trying to keep as much normality as possible for everyone hence why, when other schools are cancelling events, we decided to go ahead this week with the 3 Way Conferences, the Year 1 Admissions presentation, the presentation from Kim Ho, the PTA Movie afternoon and the Year 1 admissions.  A sense of normality is very important at this time.

However, in saying this, we are watching develops very closely to see if going ahead with the St John’s Nativity evening is still possible.  Jane, Amanda and Felix are working with the children as if the event is still going ahead but I need to stress the following:

  • Owing to the amount of school time we have lost, assuming we go ahead, the evening will not look the same as in the past.  We are having to modify aspects and reduce numbers involved.
  • Some children have not committed the time necessary at home, to practice as requested, meaning that some items due to be included are now under review.
  • I will make the call to cancel the evening, if the safety of everyone involved is at risk.  This will be a last resort but, as a community, we need to be prepared for this eventuality and we will make a call as close to the day as possible.

Enjoy your weekend everyone and thank you for your ongoing support.

Warm Regards

Student Council

Box of Hope

Thank you to all of those families who have spent time creating some amazing Boxes of Hope.  I have truly enjoyed talking to students as they add their boxes to our ever increasing pile.  Seeing how gently they are carrying their boxes and listening to the care and thought which have gone into selecting items to go in these boxes show that Peak School know that to give is more important than to receive.  We can only imagine the  delight and hope these boxes will give to children throughout Asia.  Thank you everyone for your generosity.

The boxes had now been delivered.

Remembrance Day

On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour,  many people choose to acknowledge and remember the end of World War 1.  This is known as Remembrance Day, Armistice Day or Poppy Day in many different countries.  Many people hold a two minute silence and many others also  wear poppies as  a form of respect to honour all those affected by all wars.  Last Monday, Year 6 and Year 3 student leaders organised  a lunch time activity teaching other students how to make poppies and what they represent. This was supported by many students within the school.

In past years we have helped arrange and support lunchtime activities  about Diwali, Hanukkah and ANZAC Day.  The Student Council welcomes invitations from any students who would like to teach others about important events or festivals they recognise.

Christmas Parties

Our class teachers are setting up dates for their class Christmas parties.  Your class parent/s will be in touch with you soon to seek your help in organising the class party.

As a school community, we are very mindful of our impact on the environment and we would like to emphasise this point especially at Christmas time when people produce the most amount of waste, which unfortunately, usually comes in the form of presents.

May we ask parents to please refrain from giving Christmas presents and giveaways at the class Christmas party?  The children are always more than happy simply having an opportunity to celebrate and to share a lovely meal with their class.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to be sustainable.
