Principal’s Message

Dear Parents

It was lovely to see so many families at St John’s last night.  We are very proud of the children, as I am sure you are as well.  My thanks again to Jane Engelmann, Amanda Moxham and Felix Auld for driving the concert forward in such a short amount of time.  I am proud also of the rest of the staff who all supported the children in a variety of ways.  As I mentioned last night, Jane wrote all the songs that were sung which made the night extra special.

We have one more week of school before breaking for 3 weeks.  Reports will be available via Gateway on Monday 13 January (second week back).  These reports will cover Maths, English, Chinese and Units of Inquiries.  We are finalising the important dates document for Term 2 and this should be ready to share next week.  A reminder that we finish at 12pm next Friday, 13 December.

We have a small number of families leaving us at the end of this term for a variety of reasons, and regardless of your destination, I hope that your next adventure is a rewarding one.

For the families that celebrate Christmas, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you for your continued support and I do hope you find time to spend with your child/ren during their holiday.

Warm Regards
Bill

Thanksgiving themed Discovery Time

Year 1 and 2 want to thank the parents, led by Melissa Bonem and Anne Dabrowksi, for leading a Thanksgiving themed Discovery Time, which was a big hit among all the students. We loved the activities and the lovely snack prepared for us. We are thankful for you!

Student Council Pajama Day-Friday 13th December, 2019

This year the student council are having a school pajama day.  We have decided to have this on the last day of school and call it,

“Twas the night before Christmas…holidays”,

as a celebration of the end of the school year and holidays.
Students are invited to wear part/some of their pajamas on that day if they wish.

The 10th Peak School Putonghua Speech Festival 2019-2020 (Y3-Y6)

Great news that our annual Peak School Putonghua Speech Festival is coming up soon after the Christmas holiday!  It is a great opportunity for children to showcase their language skills and practise presentation skills! The winners will get an opportunity to perform during our Chinese New Year school assembly!  We always had a large number of enthusiastic children participated in the event every year. Children may choose to perform solo or with a team. They may choose to sing Chinese songs, recite Chinese poems or tell stories.

Please sign up with your Chinese teachers if you are interested by Wednesday Jan 8 2020!  You may want to spend some time to practise during your Christmas holiday!

Dates to mark on your calendar:
Preliminary:  Wednesday Jan 8 2020
Final: Wednesday Jan 15 2020

Best Regards,
The Chinese Team
